Security experts have differing opinions on whether or not cyber security fears are fully justified or if they are over-exaggerated out of proportion. People often read horror stories which could happen to them, with little or no information that will help them to protect themselves and their businesses.
Unfortunately, if people read news and become fearful, helpless, and completely powerless to take any kind of action to help themselves, they are likely to put their heads in the sand as a result of being completely overwhelmed by what is going on around them. This is also known as the Ostrich Syndrome, based on the myth that ostriches bury their heads in the sand when they feel scared or threatened. When information is forthcoming, it is not often presented with the same emotional impact and doesn’t necessarily inspire people to take action or even finish reading. The reverse is also true and fear stories can quickly lead to overkill on mitigation.
The aim of our blog is to provide detailed information, analysis of risks, and specific actions that can be taken. As valued readers and potential clients, we would like to invite you to contact us with your cyber security related questions or concerns.
